history painting 0002 is the second issue in a serialized component of a project that shares its name, history painting. In 2012 Manuel Angeja started collecting and reproducing digital reproductions of portraits of historical figures found on the web. He uses the project as a game or machine for studying history, referring to the pictures generated as his collection he forms decks, shuffles and arranges them in various ways hoping to generate further connections and lines of thought.
